What is in the PDF
- Maze, 16 by 21 squares
- Solution with the path marked
How to use this printable
Print the PDF on US Letter or A4 paper at 100 percent actual size. Give the child a pencil or crayon and show them the maze page. Explain that the gingerbread at the top left is the start and the milk cookies at the bottom right is the finish. Ask the child to draw a continuous line from the gingerbread to the milk cookies without crossing any walls. The solution page is included for you to check the path afterward. This activity helps children ages 7 to 10 practice planning and problem solving by thinking ahead about which routes work and which lead to dead ends. Let the child work at their own pace and try different paths if they get stuck.
Teaching tips
- To make it easier, let the child trace the path with a finger first before using a pencil.
- To make it harder, ask the child to complete the maze without lifting the pencil from the paper.
- To reuse the page, place it in a plastic sleeve and have the child use a dry erase marker.
Questions and answers
Is this maze too hard for a 7 year old?
The maze is designed for ages 7 to 10. A 7 year old may need guidance at first but can solve it with practice.
How should I print the PDF?
Print at 100 percent or actual size. Both US Letter and A4 paper work, and the maze will fit correctly.
Can my child use a marker instead of a pencil?
Yes, a marker works fine, but a pencil allows easy erasing if the child wants to try a different path.
