How to use this printable

Print the PDF at actual size on US Letter or A4 paper. No sign up is needed. Give the child a pencil or crayons. Start with page 1 which has numbers 1 to 10. Show the child the first number. Point to the large number at the start of the row. Say the number name. Have the child trace the dotted number with a finger first. Then let the child trace it with a pencil. After tracing, the child writes the number on their own in the blank space at the end of the row. Repeat for each number on the page. On another day use page 2 for numbers 11 to 20. The child learns to recognize and write each number from 1 to 20. The activity builds fine motor control and number formation skills. Keep sessions short and positive.

Teaching tips

  • For a child who finds tracing hard, let them use a crayon with a wider grip or place the page on a slightly slanted surface to improve hand control.
  • To make it more challenging, ask the child to say the number out loud before tracing and then count objects like buttons or blocks to match that number.
  • Slide the page into a clear plastic sleeve and use a dry erase marker. Wipe clean and reuse the page many times for extra practice.
